Types of malware.
Malware is the compound from malicious and software. Malware is software that usually installs itself on your computer. The word malware can be used to describe many types of malicious software this includes worms, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, dialers, hoaxes, spam, phishing, hoaxes, keyloggers, backdoors, wabbits, exploits, rootkit, dialers, URL injectors, adware, jokes and virus alerts.
Viruses hide inside the files of real computer programs (for instance, macros or VB Script in many applications).
Worms are self-replicating programs. A worm will send copies of itself to other computer terminals on the network and it can do so without any user intervention.
Wabbits are a type of self replicating program. a wabbit replicates itself on a local computer.
Trojans are software which perform a certain action that you are not aware of.
Spyware is software that spies on you and tracking your internet activities.
Keyloggers log your keystrokes,they log sensitive information such as passwords and financial details.
Dialers dial telephone numbers via your computer’s modem. Dialers either dial expensive premium-rate telephone numbers or they dial a hacker’s machine to transmit stolen data.
URL injectors software “injects” a given URL in place of certain URLs when you try to visit them in your browser.
Adware The displays ads on your computer. adware is considered a subset of spyware.
Backdoors are similar to Trojans or worms, except they perform an extra function; they open a “backdoor” of a computer, so hackers or other malware can enter or for viruses or spam to be sent out.
Rootkit malware is most likely to have a human touch, these are installed by hackers on people’s computers. Rootkits camouflage themselves in the system’s core processes so and can go undetected. If found the advise from experts is to completely wipe your hard drive and reinstalling everything.
You should install an anti virus program, antispyware and a firewall to protect your computer. You can also protect your PC by using anti virus software, email filtering solution. Be sure to stay up to date with software patches and backup your data regularly.
